MY PERSONAL RESEARCH JOURNEY

The topic that I chose to focus on is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Early Childhood Education (ADHD). Educating children with ADHD can be overwhelming as well as a distraction to the other children. I am interested in this topic because I need a solution on how to solve behavior issues with children that has ADHD. I have never encountered any children with such behavior issues. I know that there are strategies and ways to prevent this chaos in the classroom and I want to know how. Can any of my colleagues can provide me with any insights, if so please do.

I understand that the information from constructing the research chart will be beneficial for me as I gain an understanding of what is expected during the research process. The research chart will also help me to understand the different terminology that is used during the research process.

  3. I can relate with this topic as I have been working on a child with ADHD lately. The presence of the child was initially very disruptive to the entire classroom and it has been challenging getting the classroom back to order. I really get worn-out after the day's work. This has been taking some collaborative effort of caregivers, speech therapist and Psychologist. I would be willing to share my experiences and practices being applied.

    Regards.

  4. Hi Antowah,
You are researching a good topic. Many children are being diagnosed with ADHD, it seems. Their behaviors can be distracting, and addressing them alone can be overwhelming. At my school we have dedicated assistants (DA's) that stay with, and help children who have ADHD and other behavioral disorders. This approach seems to lessen the distractions in the classroom, and help keep the children focused. I will share any insights and resources I discover on this topic.

  5. Antowah, great topic to discuss and love to hear more about ADHD.
It has been known that many psychologists share a concern that drugs are both underused and overused in treating children with this disorder. I believe some children who can benefit is never given medication and the children that takes the medication, don't need it. Can't wait to hear more in the coming weeks..
